Position:           Macmillan Welfare Benefits Caseworker

Actual Salary:   £11,719, depending on experience, plus 3% pension.  Pay review is pending.

Hours:                   18.5 per week.

Location: The post holder will be based at either our Kendal and/or Ulverston offices.  The post holder will provide the service through a variety of channels and locations. Some hours may be worked from home.

Closing date: 20 July 2022 at 12 Noon

Interview Date: Week commencing 25 July 2022. Date and time to be confirmed.

Type of contract:   Fixed term 

This post is funded by Macmillan Cancer Support and is part of a county-wide contract. The  successful postholder will work alongside our part time Welfare Benefits Caseworker to deliver a quality Welfare Benefits advice service for people living and affected by Cancer. 

Some of the hours may be worked from home. 

We are looking for someone with

  • experience of providing Welfare Benefits advice;
  • the ability to work sensitively with clients and family members;
  • good communication skills;
  • experience of delivering a service to quality standards, deadlines and targets.

Purpose:          

To recruit volunteers for South Lakes Citizens Advice. To provide training, support and guidance to all volunteers and staff. To work with the management team to ensure that South Lakes Citizens has a well-trained and diverse volunteer base which can meet the demands of the service. To support and training potential apprenticeships and/or work placements. To ensure the quality of the advice service is developed and conforms to Citizens Advice membership standards.

  • deliver a quality telephone and digital advice service across South Lakeland.
  • support and contribute to the work of the advice team.
