The Time was Right, the Tide was Right … South Lakes Citizens Advice first Cross Bay Walk
On a chilly and windy, but bright morning, Morecambe Bay looked very empty when work started on setting up our registration table for the our first ever Cross Bay Walk.
The ultimate destination was still distant but our aim was clear, to raise awareness of and much needed funds for South Lakes Citizens Advice.
Arrivals picked up from a trickle,
but we were ready for the rush…..
As more than 160 brave souls got ready to cross the sands of Morecambe Bay, they were not deterred by the dangers,

John Dersley, the organiser of the walk & Trustee of SLCA
knowing that they were in the safe hands of Cedric Robinson, Queens Guide to the Sands and his team, and supported by four members of the Duddon & Furness Mountain Rescue Team, one of whom is also a Citizens Advice advisor, who volunteered to act as marshals and our sincere thanks go out to all of them for their help.
The mood was a happy one as helpers, volunteers, trustees, friends and strangers joined together for this important cause.
A long and sometimes wet trek lay ahead…

but both walkers and helpers knew it would be worth it all. And it was!
Bottles of water awaited the thirsty finishers, kindly donated by Morrisons in Windermere and Kendal, and Booths of Windermere.
A massive THANK YOU to you all for your support and for helping us to make our Cross Bay Walk a great success!
Please don’t forget to send in your sponsorship forms and money. We’d love to see your photos!
